Not far from Vardoe, we stopped in the wind to check out potential bird species on the coast. While my cousin Christer made use of his binoculars, I suddenly grabbed his arm and said: "Hey, there is a Dunlin just ahead of your feet!" It was standing in a sea of mountain avens (Dryas octopetala).
Inte långt från Vardø stannade vi för att kolla av kusten. Medan Christer kollade ut över havsviken tog jag tag i honom och viskade: "Du, det står en kärrsnäppa precis framför dina fötter!" Den stod i ett hav av fjällsippor.
