The European herring gull is a widely spread bird, present both in remote marine areas and in the coastal cities of Europe. At times it is shy, especially during wintertime, and at times it is most aggressive, stealing food from other birds as well as from humans. This bird had settled on Hornøya where there are plenty of opportunities to steal an egg or a fish that somebody else has caught.
Gråtruten är vitt spridd, både i avlägsna områden och i städer. Ibland uppträder den skyggt, som på vinterhalvåret, ibland är den aggressiv och stjäl mat både från andra fåglar och från människor. Det här exemplaret hade bosatt sig på Hornøya där det finns gott om tillfällen att stjäla ett ägg eller en fisk som någon annan fångat.
