The francolins belong to the Phasianidae family, just like the pheasant. It forages primarily at dawn and dusk, but we encountered this individual in the middle of the day. It is easy to identify as it is the only francolin (or spurfowl as it was previously called) with a yellow throat patch.

Frankolinerna är en typ av fälthöns, precis som fasanen. De söker oftast föda i gryning och skymning, men vi träffade på den här individen mitt på dagen. Den är lätt identifierbar genom det starkt gula fältet på halsen. Den är nämligen den enda frankolin som har det.
