This is a medium sized tyrant, 7.3/4", with mainly gray and brown colors. The underside, however, lights up quite yellow, and on this particular picture you actually see the elongated orange patch that represents a hidden comb or crest that can be erected at particular situations. (In most pictures you do not see it at all). The cow tyrant occurs in open countryside and sparse dry forests, from Venezuela in the north to northern Argentina in the south. It occurs relatively commonly in nature reserves and agricultural landscapes. It lives on insects and therefore sometimes follows cattle that chase up different small animals, hence the name, Cattle tyrant.

Detta är en medelstor tyrann, 19,5 cm, med huvudsakligen gråa och bruna färger. Undersidan lyser dock ganska gul och på just den här bilden ser man faktiskt också den avlånga, orangea nackfläcken som är en dold kam. Vid vissa tillfällen kan den resas. (På de flesta bilder syns den inte alls). Arten förekommer i öppna landskap och gles torrskog, från Venezuela i norr till norra Argentina i söder. Den förekommer relativt allmänt i naturreservat och jordbrukslandskap. Den lever på insekter och följer därför ibland boskap som jagar upp olika djur, därav namnet, kotyrann.
