The remarkable Retz's helmetshrike (also called 'Red-billed helmetshrike') is found in tropical Africa, south of the equator. The core area is actually the Okavango where we also found it. It almost always appears in pairs or smaller flocks that together claim a territory. This couple flew over us near our overnight stop. The rest of the flock remained quite high up in the trees.
Den märkliga hjälmtörnskatan återfinns i det tropiska Afrika, söder om ekvatorn. Kärnområdet är faktiskt Okavango, där vi också fann den. Den uppträder nästan alltid i par eller mindre flockar som tillsammans hävdar ett territorium. Detta par flög över oss nära vårt övernattningsställe. Resten av flocken höll till ganska högt uppe i träden.
