This White-backed mousebird sat in a tree near the drainage plant in Windhoek (indeed, a great place for watching birds, as there are several ponds and few people). It is said to be a shy bird as it is chased by fruit producers because of its food-habits, but this time I got close to it from the car window. The characteristic long tail does not show in this close-up, but the likewise special black spot on the bill does.
Den här vitryggiga musfågeln satt i ett träd nära avloppsanläggningen i Windhoek (jo, faktiskt ett bra ställe att skåda fågel på, många dammar och litet folk). Det sägs vara en skygg fågel eftersom den jagas flitigt av fruktodlare, men jag kom den nära från bilfönstret. Den karaktäristiska långa stjärten syns inte på den här närbilden, men väl den likaledes speciella svarta fläcken på näbben.
