Phalaropes often swim in circles to chase insects from the bottom. These are so small that the phalaropes are forced to work hard to get enough food for subsistence. When an insect is caught, the phalarope takes it out of the water and into the bill in a drop and then pushes the water out of the drop - which is what happens in this image.
Simsnäppor simmar ofta i cirklar för att jaga upp insekter från botten. Dessa är så små att simsnäpporna får jobba ordentligt för att få ihop tillräckligt med föda. När insekten är fångad tar simsnäppan upp den i näbben i en vattendroppe och trycker sedan ur vattnet ur droppen - vilket sker på denna bild.
