This is a buzzard, a Steppe buzzard, which breeds in European Russia and towards the Southwest in the Altai mountains and wintering here in Africa. So far, the scientists agree. However, it is still a controversy whether this is a separate species (Buteo vulpinus) 'Steppe buzzard' or a subspecies of our Common Buzzard (in that case with the 'vulpinus' added to the usual 'Buteo buteo').
Det här är en vråk, en stäppvråk, som häckar i europeiska Ryssland och sydvästerut ända till Altaj och övervintrar här i Afrika. Så långt är forskarna överens. Däremot är det omstritt om det är en egen art (Buteo vulpinus) "stäppvråk" eller en underart till vår vanliga ormvråk (då med tillägget 'vulpinus' efter det vanliga 'Buteo buteo').
